Home ranges can vary from 1 to 25 acres, depending on food availability. Home ranges generally increase with age and are often overlapping.  

Gray squirrels eat a variety of native foods, including nuts, seeds, fruit, buds, and flowers. They will also eat frogs, insects, bird eggs, and farm crops.  

Gray squirrels communicate with a variety of vocalizations, including squeaks, chatters, and raspy sounds. They also use tail flicking and facial expressions.  

Gray squirrels typically live to be about 12 years old.  

Female gray squirrels give birth to 2-4 babies in each litter and can have two litters each year.
